VoIP Is Becoming The Business Communication Tool Of Choice

Voice Over Internet Protocol or VoIP has been around for several years, and the technology has improved tremendously in that time. However, the real change in attitude towards VoIP has come about simply because more companies now have fast broadband connections.
Genuinely fast broadband connections have been widespread for a surprisingly short time. With this new speed VoIP has become a very practical communications solution for companies to use as a replacement for the outdated PBX systems.
Companies can make savings of 50% or more on their regular telephone bills by switching from PBX to the capabilities of VoIP. One major aspect of the new system is its ability for high quality conferencing.
At a time when most companies are scrutinising every aspect of their transport costs, VoIP conferencing offers a way to eliminate unnecessary road and air travel as well as the associated costs of accommodation and wasted man-hours.
Being able to hold genuine conferences with participants spread across the country or even the world is a highly effective solution when compared to physically moving these employees by road and air.
Staff training no longer requires that the staff take four days off their regular duties to spend time travelling down to London and attending meetings. With VoIP conferencing facilities, they can spend a day or two at the local branch office taking part in the training via VoIP conferencing, thus saving huge amounts of time and expenses.
Wireless VoIP is highly effective in large institutions such as hospitals or other large complexes where the workforce is scattered across a big area. When you have staff to move around large facilities such as the hotels, airports or other large scale institutions, keeping in contact with widespread staff movements can be essential for productivity.
This type of VoIP communication is fast and efficient in contacting staff in different areas or on different floors and is highly cost effective when compared to cell phones and infinitely more effective than pagers.
Many businesses are beginning to see the multiple advantages of VoIP communications over mobile phones, not least of all in terms of cost. Another advantage is the system's extreme flexibility; an employee can be assigned a phone number, which he can take with him anywhere.
If a client calls the office, the system will immediately see that the employee is at his desk and direct call to the phone in his office. If the system sees that, he is in a meeting it will switch to voicemail. If he is out on the road, it was direct call to his mobile, and even if he is on the other side of the world the system is capable of re-routing the call.
The client will never need to know where the employee is and in addition will only be charged by his telephone company for the original call to the office, once re-routed he will not pay any additional fees even if the employee is on the other side of the world.
Within the next 10 years, VoIP will become the communication tool for business across the world. Inefficient and outmoded PBX systems will slowly be removed and replaced with the far more flexible and effective VoIP communications system.
That is an inevitable outcome if companies only consider cost savings, when other aspects such as flexibility and its technological capabilities are added into the mix there is no choice but to seriously consider the VoIP advantages.
